  Join us for Working Waters: A Maritime Mural for Mariners Harbor, a free waterfront celebration featuring live music, local artists, maritime storytelling, youth art activities, and painted steel planters inspired by Staten Island’s working harbor and shipbuilding history. Visitors can experience tugboats and active harbor views up close while exploring art and exhibits celebrating the legacy, labor, and culture of New York Harbor. Open to all ages.

• City of Water Day at Freshkills Park

  Celebrate City of Water Day at Freshkills Park with a sunset kayak tour, a wetland bird walk, and a terrapin workshop! These programs highlight wetland ecology, climate resiliency, terrapin conservation, and Freshkills Park - NYC’s most ambitious park transformation and the world’s largest landfill-to-park project.

• Signals Across the Harbor

  Experience a day of waterfront exploration at the National Lighthouse Museum during Signals Across the Harbor. This free City of Water Day mini festival features interactive activities, connecting communities and wildlife to New York Harbor. The museum and waterfront promenade are fully accessible with flat, single-level pathways, and nearby public parking is available in St. George near the Staten Island Ferry terminal. Some vessel activities may have mobility limitations. All ages welcome.

• Together We Grow: City of Water Day Workshop by Friends of Corporal Thompson Park

  Celebrate West Brighton’s waterfront identity with a multigenerational event featuring a cooling water‑table activity, watercolor arts and crafts, and hands‑on lessons about local flooding and emergency readiness. Attendees will learn how to assemble go bags and take home preparedness resources. Open and accessible to all ages.
