The event features environmental activities such as seining, interactive learning stations, water safety demonstrations, eco-art projects, paddle boarding, shore explorations and opportunities for fun for all ages who want to protect and strengthen our coastal communities where learning meets celebration, and where the bay becomes both our classroom and our gathering place.

Join Resilience Adventures to explore the river! We'll provide hands-on estuary biodiversity exploration for children, using hand/seining nets at the Hoboken Cove beach and we’ll be teaching stand-up-paddleboard classes for adults throughout the day. In the afternoon, Resilience will team up with the Hoboken Historical Museum to provide a waterfront history kayak tour. No fee! City of Water Day in Hoboken will feature free activities for all ages, including yoga (10am), bird watching (10am-12pm), environmental science on the beach, kayaking, paddleboarding, paddling an outrigger canoe, crafts, information tables, and a scavenger hunt. We will celebrate Hoboken’s public waterfront park and highlight ways we all live with water. ALL of our City of Water Day activities will be on the water, on the waterfront, or in sight of the Hudson River.

Come explore the REAL Meadowlands with your friends at Hackensack Riverkeeper. Choose between a 1 hour mini-cruise with Captain Hugh Carola aboard the 30-foot “Robert H. Boyle II" – during which you’ll help conduct water quality monitoring with a YSI sonde device, and learn how water samples are collected for testing. Or – experienced kayakers can take to the water in a kayak from River Barge Park and Marina in Carlstadt, NJ. Explore the wildlife in Mill Creek Marsh – a place we call “a true jewel in the Meadowlands.”

Ke Aloha Outrigger at Hoboken Cove will present a variety of family-oriented activities on and adjacent to the water including a shoreline cleanup, outrigger canoe trips on the Hudson River and a festival featuring lei-making, crafts and educational events inspired by the Pacific Island cultures that thrive living by the water. Our event is open to people of all ages though our canoe trips will be limited to participants 14 years old and up.

Join the City of Perth Amboy for a day focused on protecting and enjoying our local waterways! The event will feature free kayaking along the Raritan River alongside a waterfront litter cleanup promoting environmental stewardship and community engagement. Activities will be supervised by the City’s Police Marine Unit, and attendees will also have the opportunity to enter a rain barrel raffle supporting stormwater management and sustainability initiatives.

We will be joined by the Ranger Rick team in the morning for birdwatching with the award-winning Middlesex Merlins, a floodplain clean-up, salt marsh restoration outreach, brickmaking and more. Enjoy a guided pontoon boat tour along the Hackensack River and its marshes. An experienced tour guide will talk about the history of the river and its tributaries, including its natural and man-made features, and point out birds and other wildlife that inhabit the marshes. This a great way to see nature up-close and gain a new appreciation of the natural beauty of the Meadowlands. Boat tours last approximately two hours and leave from River Barge Park in Carlstadt. Registration is required.
