  • Boogie Down to the Sound Day is a free community waterfront festival hosted by SUNY Maritime College. Participants will have the opportunity to go sailing, kayaking, power boating, fishing, and participate in marine science activities such as seining, oyster restoration, and other STEM activities.

  • Join the Castle Hill YMCA and the Waterfront Alliance on Saturday, July 12th for this year's City of Water Day celebration! This year, those who attend can take part in a coastal cleanup along the shoreline of Castle Hill Park, understand how to prepare your homes for flooding, take a run with community members along the waterfront of Pugsley Creek, and enjoy some local food and music at the Y. Water, sunscreen, gloves, bags, and garbage grabbers will be provided for the cleanup (please bring your own water bottle).

  • The Friends of the Hudson River Greenway in cooperation with the University of Mount St. Vincent will give community residents an opportunity to dip their toes in the Hudson River on City of Water Day. There is at present NO public access to the Hudson River in the Bronx. At our event we will discuss the planned Hudson River Greenway in the Bronx -- why it has not yet been built and what we can do to make it happen. There will be music and food.

  • Rocking the Boat’s beloved summer tradition—Community Rowing, Sailing, and Birding—brings community residents out on the Bronx River from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend to enjoy their waterfront while learning about its history and ecological importance. To celebrate City of Water Day 2025, the event will feature free, family-friendly rowing and sailing experiences; highlight the Bronx River as a vital natural resource and symbol of climate resilience; and strengthen community bonds.

  • Join the Bronx River Alliance to clean up and celebrate the Bronx River! Enjoy free art activities led by local artists, sample teas made from native plants foraged from the Bronx River Foodway, join a green infrastructure tour of Starlight Park, and participate in a "Paddle and Pick Up" canoeing activity to steward and restore the Bronx River. Learn about how climate change connects and impacts our communities along the river, and join the efforts of the Bronx Climate Justice Task Force.

  • The Yonkers Paddling and Rowing Club will host a free paddling session on City of Water Day! No prior experience required! YPRC will provide on-land instruction as well as on-water support from members of our public paddle program, the Hudson River Riders.   • Welcome to Fish Hut & Build-a-Reef Flagship 2025 Summer Fishing Event. Fish Hut and Build-a-Reef will host the largest Free Summer Fishing Event on City of Water Day! Guests will learn about 3D printing of artificial reefs, environmental conservation, followed by casting of the line to catch the fish of the day! Catch-and-release only. Open to participants 18 years and younger, lots of prizes to be won. Enjoy italian ice and desserts at the end of the day!

  • Come join us on Piermont Pier at our Hudson River Field Station for a fun, free, family-friendly event open to all ages and get a chance to enter into a wadable section of the Hudson to go seining to catch fish, crabs, and much more. Interact with our educators to learn about climate change! Pop inside the field station for fish themed crafts. Parking at the end of the pier by the field station is limited, there is a parking lot adjacent to the start of the pier and it is a lovely walk!

  • In partnership and coordination with the Waterfront Alliance, we will uplift the YMCA for City of Water Day 2025. We'll lead coastal cleanup, engage the community in flood awareness, promote environmental protection, and offer education on housing and community stabilization. Our “Homeowner Voice Box” will elevate resident stories, advancing resilience and a more sustainable future.

  • Join Wave Hill on City of Water Day as we set sail down the Hudson River. Participants will learn how to make their own handmade sailboat or raft using a mixture of upcycled materials and get to keep them as a small souveniours! Wave Hill House is wheelchair-accessible. There is an accessible, ground-level entrance at the front of the building with a power-assist door.

  • This City of Water Day, join artists Alethea Pace and Nathan Kensinger for a guided experience along the Harlem River waterfront in Mill Pond Park. Alethea will lead an interactive, improvisational movement-based performance that invites audiences to reflect on their relationship to the Harlem River and Nathan will guide participants through the history of this site, looking at the layers of industry and infrastructure which have impeded access to the shoreline. Visitors will be encouraged to record their experiences in writing, and to photograph the landscape and performance using their personal cameras or phones. This event is conducted as part of the Harlem River Artist in Residence program, which is supported by the Harlem River Coalition, Bronx Council for Environmental Quality, and the Bronx Council for the Arts.

  • Join artist Natalie Wood in Mill Pond Park for Harlem River Reimagined. During this activity, participants of all ages will create collages celebrating the Harlem River using hands-on materials to explore topics like climate resilience, habitat preservation, and public access. These artworks will be documented and transformed into an original work of art and donated to a local school or community center.
