Our Harbor's Improving Health -- What's Left to be Done?

A Free Tour and Teach-In on the Tug Boat Cornell

Schedule
Harbor Health Tour:   11:30am - 1:00pm
Vessel: Cornell
Capacity: 30
Partners: Lehigh Maritime Corp

The tour is part of the City of Water Day Teach-In series.  The 1972 Clean Water Act represented a radical departure from previous federal water quality legislation. Since the Acts’ passage we have made a great deal progress to restore the quality of water in the New York - New Jersey Harbor.

Despite the vast improvements in the health of our harbor action is still needed to maintain this valuable ecosystem.

Travel on board the Cornell, a historical tugboat, to learn about the natural ecology of the harbor, resource conservation, and how we can leverage the public process to clean up some of our most contaminated waterways. This environmental excursion of the harbor will challenge visitors to view the waterfront as a place that is continually shaped by the intrinsic relationship between people and nature.
