City of Water Day is a day for family fun and children's activities as well! The following activities are confirmed and more are added every day. Please check back continuously for the most up-to-date listing of events!
Children's Activity Fair:
Big League Bouncies Inc: Who doesn’t love a bouncy house?
Bronx Children's Museum: “River on the Go: Where is Justin the Beaver?” The museum's new traveling exhibit highlighting the Bronx River, “River on the Go: Where is Justin the Beaver?”
Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at Building 92: This interactive table has a space where children can create their own artwork, and families can learn all about the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Brooklyn Waterfront Research Center: Measure qualities of water samples that have been collected from the Brooklyn waterfront. Passers by will be asked to write a story about their experience with the Brooklyn waterfront and map the site of that experience on a map that will be displayed. Families can look through a microscope to see growths on petrie dishes from water samples taken the previous day from the Brooklyn waterfront. The Center for Urban Pedagogy: There will be a "Sewer in a Suitcase" demonstration! CUP’s Sewer in a Suitcase is a working model of the city’s combined sewer system that lets you explore the mechanics of these dirty events and what they mean for our health and environment.
Cherub Improv: Come take part in free musical and improv workshops for children! There will also be live improv shows!
Children’s Museum of the Arts: Children get to experience a unique and exciting Ocean Voyage through a group-led art project!
City Parks Foundation Coastal Classroom: Try out some of our educational environmental workshops that are featured in NYC!
Community Environmental Center: Make your own paint!
Disney: One of many Disney's activities includes, Disney's TRYathlon Road Tour, designed to inspire millions of kids and families to get up, get outside, and get active! Kids will compete in a one-of-a-kind TRYathlon that tests their skills, fosters teamwork, and allows them to discover new ways to challenge themselves.
Earth Matter: Seen across the island - separation stations and processing of food scraps. additionally we'll provide activities such as creating seed "green-aids", leading kids and adults in sifting their own compost samples to take with them. We'll provide DSNY literature to the public and have our compost workers, chickens and baby goats on hand to meet and greet the public.
East River C.R.E.W: Learn how to row info, distributing East River Estuary Guide, offering free coloring activities for children, share East River tidal strait history and fun facts and more! We will also have our brand new ERC donation buttons and a display of photographs.
Food & Water Watch: Come for free giveaway buttons, stickers, and information on the Food & Water Watch issues!
Freshkills Park: Sign up for upcoming events and tours, learn how to visit the park and of the history of the former landfill. Activities also include coloring and other activities for kids to do at the table!
Governors Island Alliance: Children are invited to play in educational harbor ecology and history games on a large 30 x 30 ft moveable foam board map of the New York-New Jersey estuary.
Girl Scout Council of Greater NY: Ever want your child to learn how to tie a rope? How to pitch a tent? Have instant annual access to girl scout cookie orders? Come learn about the girl scouts and how your daughter(s) can get involved today!
Greenpoint Monitor Museum: Get a taste of American warship history! Families can view engaing, historical slide shows about the USS Monitor, the first ironclad warship commissioned by the United States Navy during the American Civil War.
GrowNYC: Interactive "Recycling Game" with literature
Human Impacts Institute: Offering interactive, creative and hands-on activities/games and water pledges for City of Water Day participants to partake in dealing with water issues concerning NYC.
IFish NY: Come learn about the enjoyable sport of fishing!
Interstate Environmental Commission: workshop, field testing demos, puzzles, games!
Long Island Aquarium: With the help of the Long Island Aquarium, children get a hands-on experience with critter touch tanks at the Children's Activities Fair!
Macaroni Kid Lower Manhattan: Learn more about the Macaroni Kid that publishes a weekly- free newsletter/blog that covers all Kid & Family Friendly events in Lower Manhattan. Raffles included!
National Museum of the American Indian: Learn about the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian.
New York Harbor Foundation: Hosting an oyster restoration educational exhibit, including live oysters in an estuarium tank to demonstrate the ecological benefits of oysters. They will also be giving away oyster shell jewelry and other items to promote the Billion Oyster Project. Students from New York Harbor School will staff the table and interpret/explain the exhibits.
New York Sea Grant: The 2013 Discover Clean and Safe Boating campaign will make its way to City of Water Day this year. The campaign is an effort to help educate boaters about all the gear required and recommended for legal, safe and environmentally-friendly boating on New York's waters.
North River Sail and Power Squadron: Time to test those coloring skills with a childrens’ coloring contest! For an even greater challenge - there will also knot tying contests! This squad also includes an informational booth about future educational opportunities on the waterfront.

Oliver Tilden Camp No. 26 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War: Want to know what life was like during the civil war? This table previews historical slideshow presentations of the Civil War.
Randall's Island Park Alliance: The Children's Fair will be chalk-full of educational and engaging displays and handouts, including competitive trivia games, temporary tattoo art and other fun art activities! Bonus, trivia players will have the chance to win t-shirts, hats and bioculars!
Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research: Learn more about marine life! Swing by to check out animal-related artifacts, and find out what’s coming up next for the Long Island Aquarium.
Scribbletown: At Scribbletown, children are invited to learn everything art! Come make your own free, fun art projects in the sun!
Solar One: With Solar One, children will have the unique opportunity to play with solar panels, engaging with green energy in a variety of ways, including racing mini-solar cars! Children will also have the option of making their own estuary animal puppets, playing an educational game about power plants, and much more.

Urban Park Rangers, NYC: Come take an imaginary journey below the East and Hudson Rivers and explore the marine life beneath the city's surface! Also learn more about opportunities for FREE weekend programs in NYC Parks!
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary: Booth will have literature on safe boating along with dislays of life jackets and a kayak.
